Dr. Werlin was the first pediatric gastroenterologist in eastern Wisconsin. He is a board certified pediatric gastroenterologist. He is recognized as an authority on disorders of the pancreas including acute and chronic pancreatitis. He is a founding member of INSPPIRE (International Study Group of Pediatric Pancreatitis In Search of a Cure) which is funded by the National Institutes of health. He has been a member of the scientific board of the Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome Foundation. He has published more than 120 papers and more that 55 book chapters in the field of pediatric gastroenterology
Dr. Werlin’s other clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of children with inflammatory bowel diseases and the treatment of child-resistant Clostridium difficile infections.
Dr. Werlin believes in evidence based medicine. He is a strong advocate for patients and families, and works with the child's pediatrician and parents to provide the best and most informed care possible.
