In attending the initial appointment, I think the family and child are already showing me the strength they possess. Asking for help in general and in particular with your children, takes a lot of strength and courage. I feel honored and take my role very seriously knowing that the parents or guardians are entrusting me with their struggles and their children. I have experience working in residential and outpatient settings. I have worked with children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, trauma, neglect, domestic violence, divorce, anxiety, attention/concentration and hyperactivity problems, suicidal thoughts and self-harm, depression, foster care, adoption, and legal and behavioral problems. In treatment, I believe the child’s parent/guardians are an integral part of the change and healing process.
