Viktor Hraska MD; PhD was trained at Boston Children’s Hospital. During the last 20 years he was in charge of pediatric cardiac surgical programs in Children’s Hospital Bratislava; Slovakia ; University Hospital Eppendorf Hamburg, Germany, the German Pediatric Heart Center Sankt Augustin; Germany. Currently he is the surgical director of the Herma Heart Center. Dr. Hraska chose to come to the Herma Heart Center because of the program’s high quality and multidisciplinary approach to heart care. He feels fortunate to be able to help families through their journey. His favorite part of the day is being in the operating room, working with his team, to provide the best outcomes for his patients.
Clinical practice: The surgical treatment of complex congenital cardiovascular defects, performing 200 surgeries annually. Surgical caseload includes many regional, national, and international referrals.
Teaching: Clinical instruction offered to fellows in cardiovascular surgery.
Research: Clinical research is aimed at evaluating cardiovascular outcomes after surgery for congenital heart defects. Research involves introduction of several new techniques for treatment of congenital heart defects into clinical practice.
