Overview

Dr. Barthel has transitioned to outpatient care after 30 years working with medically ill children at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in the hospital setting. He is now practicing part-time at New Berlin Clinic.

Dr Barthel believes that all children have the potential to do their best when they are supported by a ‘team’ of caretakers. For the majority of mental health issues in young people, involvement of both parents as advocates for their child and coordination of medical, psychological and school based care are critical for success.

His goal is to provide excellent consultation to clinicians and diagnostic evaluations to families around child and adolescent behavioral issues. Continuing medication management for mental health disorders is also possible.
