Concerns about your child's feeding and nutrition can be extremely stressful. Families come to Children's from all over the world because of our unique, truly team-based approach that focuses on the whole family.
Family-centered, team-based care
Specialists at Children’s Hospital have always taken a team-based approach to care for children with feeding disorders. Children and families have the benefit of meeting with an entire team of specialists, in the same room, at the same time. That means your child gets the fastest, most comprehensive care, designed just for him or her.
Our feeding and nutrition team includes:
- Pediatric gastroenterologist
- Registered nurses
- Registered dieticians
- Speech and language pathologists
- Pediatric psychologists
- Social services
Other specialists may be consulted as needed. In addition, we work closely with your child’s primary care physician, therapist or other specialist to ensure consistency of care.
Individualized treatment plans
The range of feeding and nutrition conditions we treat is wide and varied. It is important that we don’t take a “one-size-fits all” approach. Your child is unique – as is your whole family. We know your child requires a personalized treatment plan, specific to his or her needs.
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is unique in that we treat a full range of feeding, swallowing and nutrition issues your child may face. These conditions include:
- Behavior related feeding issues
- Failure to gain weight and weight loss
