Patient BillingAbout your bill Children's Hospital and Health System provides medically necessary health care to people in its geographic service area without regard for their ability to pay. In order to keep this promise, we bill and collect payments from insurance companies and individuals paying on their own (self-pay). If you or your child was seen in one of our outpatient clinics, your health insurance company may see this appointment charge as a hospital visit instead of a visit to your doctor's office. The charge may be processed according to your hospital benefits. You will get more than one bill after your clinic appointment. Children's Hospital bills for clinic staff, supplies, medical records, etc. The Medical College of Wisconsin sends out a bill for the doctor or other care provider services. If your insurance requires a copayment, we will ask you to pay it at the time of your appointment. Submitting insurance claims Financial help
