Oncology Program
The Oncology Program staff at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin knows that childhood cancer is different from adult cancers in development, treatment, tolerance of therapy and prognosis. The multidisciplinary oncology team includes highly trained specialists to diagnose and treat children's cancer and to help children and their families through the process.
Our Oncology Program sees more than 150 newly diagnosed patients each year and actively manages more than 600.
The program specializes in treating:
- Acute and chronic leukemia.
- Bone tumors.
- Brain tumors.
- Ewing's sarcoma.
- Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
- Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
- Neuroblastoma.
- Osteosarcoma.
- Retinoblastoma.
- Rhabdomyosarcoma.
- Soft tissue sarcomas.
- Other pediatric tumors and cancers.
Children's Hospital is an active member of Children's Oncology Group (COG), an organization dedicated to studying childhood cancers. The team's commitment to clinical research has ranked the program as one of the top 10 in enrollments for clinical trials. In fact, the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders was named a Phase 1 Center by the COG. This designation allows children to benefit from early phase clinical research trials to explore new therapies for childhood cancer.
