Welcome to Children's Research Institute
What's New at CRI
The mission of Children's Research Institute is to improve the health and quality of life of children and their families through the support and conduct of interdisciplinary laboratory and clinical research.
In many cases, diseases affect children differently than adults and must be treated with specialized pediatric care. Children's Research Institute advances state-of-the-art pediatric health care through our translational research programs to find life-saving discoveries and cures in the diseases that affect children, and interventions that enhance quality of life for children and families living with chronic health conditions.
The goal of Children's Research Institute is to discover and implement research advances that will lead to significant improvements in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of childhood diseases. The work done here yields new diagnostic tools, treatments, preventions and cures for many childhood illnesses such as cardiac and other birth defects, diabetes, kidney disease, digestive and pulmonary disorders, mental health issues and many others. Also important is a focus on research designed to understand and assist children and families to adapt and live well with chronic health conditions.
Children's Research Institute brings together researchers and clinicians from multiple disciplines throughout southeastern Wisconsin including life sciences, medicine, psychology, nursing, engineering, epidemiology and the many other health related disciplines to investigate and then assure research is moved into clinical practice.
Children's Research Institute is a member of Children's Hospital and Health System and is affiliated with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Marquette University College of Nursing and UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing. |
