Meet Avery, age 7, from Arpin, Wisconsin
Avery is energetic and loves running and racing. He wants to be a policeman or fireman when he grows up. While he will struggle with his condition for the rest of his life, his mom says he’s a fighter and nothing will slow him down.
“We are grateful for the care and support that Avery and our family has received. I know in my heart that he would not be alive today if it was not for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin,” said Jessica, Avery’s mom. She knows firsthand the importance of federal policies and programs like Medicaid that provide Avery and many other kids with access to high quality pediatric care.
The Wilson family shared their story with lawmakers in Washington, D.C. as part of Children’s Hospital Association’s Family Advocacy Day last year.
