Arm yourself against the flu

Vaccination deadline is Nov. 15

Flu season is gearing up, and we all need to help fight it. Free flu clinics are underway, so be sure to get your flu vaccination by the Nov. 15 deadline; exemption waivers were due to Employee Health and Wellness Oct. 1.

Employee flu clinic locations

All employees and volunteers are welcome to attend any of the scheduled Employee Health and Wellness flu vaccine clinics Staff working from these locations will be able to receive vaccinations at their worksite:

  • Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin - Fox Valley
  • Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Surgicenter
  • Greenway Medical Complex
  • Children’s primary care clinics
  • Dental offices (downtown and on North Avenue)
  • Downtown Health Center
  • Child Protection Center
  • Delafield Clinic
  • New Berlin Clinic

Staff working outside of the Milwaukee metro should have received an email with vouchers to get flu vaccinations at a Walgreens location.

Spread the word

If you’re an employee who reviews and validates immunization charts during appointments, please remind patients and their families to get an annual flu vaccination. It’s important for every staff member to get an annual flu vaccination. This supports national best practice, helps us live our value of Health to the fullest and reduce the risk of flu infection. And it’s important that we empower others around us to do the same. Annual influenza immunization is recommended for almost everyone over 6 months of age. Patients can receive a flu vaccination from their primary care physician or at many local health departments.

Healthy Rewards brochure coming soon

The 2015/2016 Healthy Rewards brochure summary should arrive at your home soon. Look inside for information about the program, and details about the array of health and wellness resources available to you. All employees are encouraged to participate in the Healthy Rewards program, as are spouses who take Children’s medical insurance. As the new program year begins, take some time to familiarize yourself with the program. See what’s available, learn how you can participate, and find out how to earn a wellness incentive. A more detailed version of the 2016 Healthy Rewards brochure is available electronically.

Join the “I live well” campaign

Learn more about Peggy’s motivation for living well in the Healthy Rewards brochure summary. Think about your personal reasons for living well and write them down on the “I live well because…” card included in the brochure. Share your story with others. Healthy Rewards is gathering pictures, stories and pictures of employees and leaders with their statements. Send your individual and group “selfies” to Your pictures could appear in a video later in the program year.

Are you up for the Challenge?

Get in gear for the new Healthy Rewards 12-week challenge, which begins Oct. 1. Log more than 1,500 minutes of exercise over 12 weeks during the Challenge, and you’ll earn 100 Healthy Rewards credits. Look for the link on the Healthy Rewards home page or in “View Activities” on the right side. Whether you want to earn credits for your current exercise routine or need motivation to exercise more, this challenge is for you. Take advantage of this great opportunity to increase your fitness level, energy and vitality.

Log your Briggs and Al’s Walk & Run credits

Congratulations to all the employees and their families who completed the annual Brigg’s & Al’s Walk & Run. To load your credits for participating in the event, follow these easy steps:

  • Log on to Healthy Rewards
  • Go to “View Activities” on the right side of the home page
  • Find the tile/box with Briggs & Al’s and complete the short form
  • Your 50 credits will be loaded

Last call for Farmer’s Market loyalty cards

The Farmer’s Market loyalty card program is coming to a close. If you haven’t already dropped your completed card in the box at the market, you can send it to Judy Stellmacher in MS C260, via interoffice mail; cards must arrive by Oct. 2. The first 100 individuals who submit completed cards will receive a free T-shirt.

The Farmer’s Market will continue to be held from Noon to 5 p.m. every Tuesday through the end of October, weather permitting. Come for great fall produce including, squash, pumpkins, apples, cider, potatoes, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers and more.

Marie Norris, our Employee Health and Wellness dietitian, offers nutrition counseling to employees. She can create an individualized nutrition plan, help you learn to read nutrition labels, give you healthy cooking tips and more. Schedule an appointment at (414) 266-8616.
