Pediatric Translational Research Unit
Are you looking for nursing services, infusions or phlebotomies to help complete your study? Do you need help processing specimens? The Pediatric Translational Research Unit is here for you.
Located at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, the unit is funded by Children's Hospital and Health System and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute. The Pediatric TRU provides nursing care for research subjects and their families and can support a variety of research needs through:
- Critical care monitoring
- Data collection for genetic studies
- Specimen collection, handling and storage
- IV starts
- Assistance with other procedures
The Pediatric TRU supports researchers of both National Institutes of Health-funded studies and pilot studies that may lead to future NIH funding, as well as other peer-reviewed, patient-oriented research and clinical trials. For unfunded research, TRU provides study coordination, nursing support, space and other services at no charge for approved studies. (Investigators must have funding for hospital-provided services and other research core services such as lab, X-ray, MRI, nucleic acid extraction, etc.)
Investigators already affiliated with Children’s Research Institute can find more information on the Pediatric TRU’s procedures and fees, as well as the request form for services, on the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin intranet.
Hours: General outpatient clinic hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Off-hour clinic and off-shift request needs can be accommodated by making prior arrangements.
The unit is located on the southeast side of Center 4 in Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
