Quality and Outcomes Reports - Emergency Medicine

Why we measure it - Research shows that doctors and hospitals that treat a large number of patients tend to provide better care and have better outcomes for treatments and procedures.

What this means - The physicians, surgeons and staff at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin are known nationally for high-quality pediatric care. Whether patients are vacationing in the Milwaukee area or live locally, Children's Hospital is the preferred destination for emergency-level care. Patient preference is reinforced by our Level 1 trauma program approved by the American College of Surgeons. We provide care to all children and adolescents up to their 19th birthday.

About the data - The blue states highlighted on the map and the list of countries shown indicate where our emergency medicine patients came from in 2013.

How we provide the best care

  • Our board-certified pediatric emergency medicine doctors provide nationally known round-the-clock care to our patients and their families.
  • Our pediatric Emergency Department is a member of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN). This network of emergency departments from across the country studies the injuries and illnesses in children and teens as a large national group. This research drives our clinical care so that we can provide the best and safest care. Through this network, we have developed the best ways to care for children, including those with head injuries, concussions, pain and asthma.

Level I pediatric trauma center

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, certified by the American College of Surgeons. This certification means we are able to provide the best possible care to the most critically injured children. It also recognizes that we are involved in injury prevention, research and education.
