Why we measure it - Research shows that doctors and hospitals that treat a large number of patients tend to have better results.

What this means - The chart shows our admissions have been steady. In 2009, there was an increase in admissions after we opened a new patient care tower.

About the data - This is the number of patients admitted to the hospital. It includes patients who stayed at the hospital less than 24 hours.

What we're doing to provide the best care:

• We opened a new patient care tower in 2009. It increased our number of patient beds to 296 with room to grow. Private rooms support privacy and comfort for patients and their families.
  
• We offer the Family Accommodations Program to help make travel plans and appointments for families coming to our hospital from a long distance.
  
• Referring doctors can ask our doctors for help 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also can ask to have a patient transported to our hospital. Our physician referral line is toll-free at (800) 266-0366.
