Jon Vice, Jack Routes, MD, honored as Health Care Heroes
MILWAUKEE (12/11/2008) - BizTimes Milwaukee (the former Small Business Times) honored local achievers in health care at the fifth annual Health Care Heroes awards. Sixteen Southeastern Wisconsin honorees were named Health Care Heroes, including Jon Vice, president and CEO, Children's Hospital and Health System, and Jack Routes, MD, medical director of Allergy/Immunology, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
Vice was given a special Lifetime Achievement Award for his 29 years of service to CHHS. His leadership was commended as well as his work to create a nationally recognized pediatric medical center and the comprehensive health system that includes child advocacy, adoption and foster care and health education. Vice's service was featured in the Dec. 12 special edition of BizTimes Milwaukee.
Dr. Routes was honored for Advancement in Health Care for his efforts with others at Children's Hospital and with the state of Wisconsin to implement a pioneering screen for newborns that detects severe combined immunodeficiency disease.
