Children's Research Institute, in conjunction with the Pediatric Pathology Division of the Department of Pathology, operates a full-service Histology Core available to all faculty and external users. This facility offers a broad range of high quality histological and immunohistochemical services available on a fee-for-service basis to investigators.

The Histology Core is located on the fourth floor of Children's Research Institute, in rooms C4310 and C4305. When making initial arrangements with the Histology Core, you must call to set up an appointment with the lab technical coordinator, Christine Duris, BS, HTL (ASCP), as key card access is required for entry into the facility.

For additional information regarding the core's policies or to discuss experimental design relevant to use of the core's resources, contact the core director, Paula North, MD, PhD.

Core hours
The core is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Samples can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you need to drop off samples before or after those times, you will need to make arrangements with the lab technical coordinator. If you wish to do immunohistochemistry on your tissue, it is best to not drop samples off on Thursdays to avoid prolonged fixation times or other complicating factors. If you have questions about this, contact the lab technical coordinator.
