Miracle baby

When Kristin was 13 weeks pregnant, her water broke. Doctors in the emergency room expected she would miscarry her baby within 72 hours.

Kristin and her husband, Chris, didn't give up hope and wanted to give their baby every chance they could. They researched online and decided to try a few things. Kristin was put on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy. She took vitamin C in the hopes it would help delay labor. She drank cranberry juice and up to a gallon of water every day to increase amniotic fluid and prevent infection. She also took baby aspirin to help thin her blood and prevent blood clots that can form when you are not moving as often.

Luke was born 12 weeks early. His lungs had not developed normally, so doctors feared he would die at birth. He was rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in the Fox Valley, where he received care for 11 weeks. Against all odds, Luke is a happy, healthy little boy today.
