Children's Hospital and Health System named one of America's best adoption-friendly workplaces
MILWAUKEE (Sept. 27, 2010) - Children's Hospital and Health System has been named one of America's Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces for 2010 by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
This award recognizes the health system's generous adoption benefits for employees. Children's Hospital and Health System reimburses eligible adoption expenses to a maximum of $5,000 and provides two weeks of paid time off. Eligible expenses may include legal fees, court costs, travel expenses or other required expenses.
"Many people don't realize our health system helps find homes for kids in need. We are all about children, and it is important to us to support our employees who adopt," said Peggy Niemer, corporate vice president, Human Resources.
Children's Service Society, a member of the health system, finds loving, stable homes for children in need of a family. On any given day in Milwaukee County, 75 to 100 children are waiting for an adoptive home. Children's Service Society provides adoption services for these children, as well as foster care, counseling services and out-of-home care. It also provides families with the support and guidance needed during the process of adoption.
The Dave Thomas Foundation determined rankings through an analysis of each company's adoption benefits. Results were based upon survey data collected from nearly 500 U.S. employers.
