Racine Child and Family Counseling

Our Racine office provides a range of outpatient counseling services, including:

  • Individual and family counseling for children, adolescents and parents.
  • Adoption therapy.

    Hours
    8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Evening and Saturday times are available by appointment.

    Our staff
    Children's Service Society of Wisconsin's therapists have extensive experience working with children, parents and families, including those involved in the child welfare system. 

    Melissa A. Gutierrez, MS, LPC, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  She has ten years of experience working with female adolescents and their families.  Melissa specializes in providing individual and group counseling to children 10-17 who have been victims of emotional, sexual, and physical abuse.  She has also worked with girls who have been part of the juvenile justice system and has a lot of experience teaching those clients how to balance taking responsibility for their actions, learning how to control their thoughts and feelings, as well as addressing the significant experiences and/or trauma in their lives.  Melissa utilizes a client-centered approach to build rapport with her clients and families and then builds her treatment plan based on the client's needs.

    Gretchen Huletz, PhD, LPC, NCC, is a licensed professional counselor and a nationally certified counselor. Gretchen works with children, adolescents, adults and families in an outpatient setting as a part-time therapist.  However, she supervises the Intensive In-Home Counseling Program too.  Gretchen has experience working with depression, anxiety, attachment disorders, sexual abuse, anger management and trauma and many other disorders. Gretchen received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She earned her master's degree in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Community Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Gretchen recently completed her doctoral degree in General Psychology from Capella University. Her dissertation focused on gender differences in Reactive Attachment Disorder.

    Mickey Kucak, LCSW, MSW, ACSW, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.  She has provided therapeutic services to children and families of all ages in a wide range of agencies, from the State of Wisconsin to private practice, which include inpatient and outpatient hospital care. Mickey believes that it is important to address all the aspects of a child's life; school, peers, extended family etc. Her most recent interest is brain development and the impact of trauma on brain and behavioral functioning. Mickey has over 30 years experience working with children and families. She wants her clients to be comfortable and feel safe while working through issues.

    Val J. Lura, MS, LPC, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Counseling Program. She is a a licensed professional counselor in Wisconsin and Illinois. Val has extensive experience working with children and families in the child welfare system. She specializes in providing individual and group counseling to children ages 3-18 who have been subjected to emotional, sexual and physical abuse. Val has experience working with families through the adoption process and with those children who are being reunified with their biological families.  Val's dog, Buddy, is a certified animal-assisted therapy dog. He works with Val in the Racine office. To learn more about Buddy, read his blog.

    Mary M. Weber, LCSW, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has worked as a Child and Family Therapist for 18 years at Children's Service Society. She specializes in working with children ages 2-18. She provides outpatient psychotherapy with an emphasis on client-centered therapy, as well as behavior modification and cognitive processes. She works with children presenting with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, adjustment difficulties, attachment issues, sexual abuse and trauma. Mary uses a strong, supportive and respectful approach when working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds.

    Ann Rolling, PhD, LPC, graduated from Marquette University with a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She has worked as a therapist in the Racine office for more than six years.  She has been the Area Manager in the Racine office since 2007. Ann completed her pre-doctoral internship at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Kalamazoo, Mich. She has experience working with many of the mental health issues that result from child maltreatment, including depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, anger control problems and adjustment issues. While in graduate school she completed a two-year practicum at the Child Protection Center in Milwaukee. Ann also completed a practicum at Froedtert Hospital in the Child Neuropsychology department.

    Children's Service Society also has Child and Family Counseling services available in Burlington and Kenosha.
