We help you identify, apply for and obtain external funding to support research, educational activities or programs. To initiate the grant-seeking process, complete the grant assistance request form.

Contact us as early in the process as possible. We adhere strictly to the timeline laid out by Children's Hospital and Health System, the Medical College of Wisconsin and the principal investigator's department for grants submission. Please be aware of the following timeline:

  • The budget should be drafted with the assistance of Children's Hospital's Finance Department 25 days prior to the due date, if applicable.
  • The budget should be drafted with the assistance of the principal investigator's department finance representative 20 days prior to the due date.
  • The budget should be reviewed by Children's Hospital's Finance Department 15 days prior to the due date, if applicable.
  • The eBridge package, including final budget and science, should be submitted to the principal investigator's department for review 10 days prior to the due date.
  • The Medical College Grants and Contracts Department will review and submit the grant package electronically five days prior to the due date.

Identify funding sources.

  • Participate in multiple listserves.

Preapproval: Once your project is reasonably well-developed and a potential funding source is identified, conceptual approval must be obtained from the Department of Pediatrics, Children's Hospital and Health System and/or Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

  • Facilitate the preapproval process.

Develop and prepare proposals.

  • Analyze Request For Proposal to ensure compliance.
  • Refine research ideas.
  • Develop proposal structure.
  • Navigate federal, state and foundation forms.
  • Develop and edit proposal narratives.
  • Assist with drafting proposal budgets.
  • Draft supporting documents.

  • Identify a Grants Development staff person as a proposal team member in eBridge.
