Specialty spotlight: Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is a leader in the diagnosis and treatment of birthmarks and vascular anomalies. Our Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies Center includes a team of internationally respected physicians who care for children and adults of all ages with complex vascular diseases.

The Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies Center offers:

  • Superior diagnosis capabilities. Our team has access to state-of-the-art technology and a wide range of diagnostic resources in pathology, radiology and clinical departments. Paula North, MD, PhD, is an internationally recognized expert in the pathologic diagnosis of vascular anomalies. She has developed several specialized tests that aid in the classification of vascular anomalies.
  • Expertise in a wide variety of evaluation and treatment options.
  • Interdisciplinary, one-stop care. Patients see all of the necessary physicians at each visit, reducing the number of trips to the clinic. Each patient is evaluated and treated by a team of specialists that includes dermatology, oncology, radiology, pathology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery and ophthalmology.
  • Highly specialized clinics and programs, including interdisciplinary vascular clinic, cutaneous oncology program, hemangioma of infancy, laser and surgery clinics.
