Requirements to become a hospital volunteer
Patient safety is a priority. Our thorough screening process is our responsibility. We ask that volunteers meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Willing to volunteer at least two hours a week.
- Able to make a commitment of at least six months (or one semester).
- Pass a background check (for individuals 18 years and older).
- Complete medical requirements. (See below.)
- Attend an orientation. (Additional training or orientation for specific areas may need to be completed upon placement.)
- Attend individual interview.
- Adhere to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's attendance policy, code of conduct and dress code.

Medical requirements
In addition to the requirements above, volunteers must also be able to provide:
- A copy of two MMR vaccines OR proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella.
- Copy of results of two Tuberculosis (TB) tests within the last six months.
