Children's Research Institute Yoga Study
Yoga has long been accepted as a tool to relieve stress and ease muscle pain in adults. However, very little research has looked at the benefits of yoga for children.
Keri Hainsworth, PhD, works in the Jane B. Pettit Pain and Palliative Care Center and is a researcher at Children's Research Institute. Hainsworth is leading a study that evaluates the benefits of yoga on pediatric headaches, from chronic to severe. Headaches, often stress-related, are treated through a yoga course that combines physical postures to teach proper body alignment, breathing techniques and meditation or relaxation.
