Our Specialists
Why we measure it - An important indicator of how we are doing is what referring physicians think of the care we provide their patients, the timeliness of our communication with them and the availability of our staff to answer their questions.

What this means - Overall, responses are favorable. Some areas of improvement identified include more appointment availability, more timely communication and ease of contacting staff.

About the Data - In 2010, a third-party vendor conducted a survey of doctors who regularly refer patients to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and provided these results.

What we're doing to provide the best care:

  • Urgent and emergent patients always are seen the same day if needed. Referring physicians can quickly access our specialists for consultation or transport 24 hours a day by calling our physician referral line at (800) 266-0366.
  • We have a team of nearly 75 pediatric specialists including gastroenterologists, nurse clinicians, nurse practitioners, dietitians, speech and language pathologists, psychologists, physical therapists, a family practice physician and research professionals to care for patients in the hospital and the clinic, coordinate the transition from inpatient to outpatient, communicate with primary care physicians, educate other health care professionals and conduct research.
  • We regularly survey our referring physicians and encourage them to share their opinions and suggestions.
  • We review and implement changes based on physician satisfaction feedback.
