Leuthner honored as Health Care Hero
Steven Leuthner, MD, MA, was honored in December at the 2007 Small Business Times Health Care Heroes Awards in Milwaukee. Dr. Leuthner is the program director of Fetal Concerns and a neonatologist at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. He also is an associate professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology) at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a member of Children's Specialty Group.
The Small Business Times established the award in 2004 to "honor organizations and people who epitomize the spirit embodied in the word 'hero' in the delivery of health care to the community."
Dr. Leuthner won the award in the physician category for his leadership of the Fetal Concerns Program, a joint effort of Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and the Froedtert and The Medical College Birth Center.
Last year, the Small Business Times honored Beth Ann Drolet, MD, for her role in establishing the Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies Center at Children's Hospital. Dr. Drolet is medical director of Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies and a dermatologist at Children's Hospital. She also is a professor of Dermatology at the Medical College and a member of Children's Specialty Group.
In 2005, the Small Business Times honored the Children's Hospital rabies cure team as Ultimate Health Care Heroes for their lifesaving work with Fond du Lac, Wis., teen Jeanna Giese. Giese is the first known rabies patient to survive without receiving a vaccine after exposure.
