Quality Reports - Herma Heart Center

See Also...
"How good are your doctors and programs?" is a very important question many people ask us. While their reasons may differ, we believe patient families, referring health care providers, insurers and oversight regulators have a right to know what level of care we provide.

On the pages below, we share our statistics in the most frequently requested categories as well as those we find particularly important. In addition, we point out what we're doing to provide the best care. It is our goal that through this honesty we can help our audiences make the best, most informed decisions and further improve quality by learning what is most important to them.

Patient Impact

Patrick Atwell, pictured at age 5, was the first child to undergo continuous cerebral perfusion during the Norwood procedure to treat hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Using this technique, Patrick's circulatory arrest time was drastically reduced during surgery to potentially minimize the impact on neurodevelopment. This strategy is being further evaluated through research studies.

We follow the Institute of Medicine's Six Dimensions of Care to structure our quality improvement efforts. Throughout our quality reports, you will see icons to show which of these dimensions apply to each measure.

To provide feedback, or for more information on our quality data, e-mail us or call (414) 266-6726.
