Volunteer families are requested for a type 1 diabetes study. The purpose of the study is to:
- Use the advancing technology of genetics to uncover the process that leads to an attack on the beta cells resulting in type 1 diabetes.
- Learn about immune system responses involved in someone developing type 1 diabetes.
- Pinpoint more precisely those individuals at highest risk for developing type 1 diabetes.
- Use this knowledge to help search for a cure.
We are looking for families that include a child or adult with type 1 diabetes. Family members will have blood taken and be asked to complete a questionnaire. For more information, contact study coordinator, Marilyn Koppen, at (414) 456-4905 or by e-mail at mkoppen@mcw.edu.
