Children's Service Society of Wisconsin

Children's Service Society of Wisconsin is the state's largest private, not-for-profit provider of child welfare services. The mission of Children's Service Society is to build, sustain and enhance a nurturing environment for Wisconsin children. With its 117-year history, Children's Service Society works to find foster and adoptive homes for children in need and works to make their existing homes better by preventing or alleviating the conditions that threaten their health and happiness.

From offices and family resource centers throughout the state, Children's Service Society offers activities and programs in three core service areas: out-of-home care; counseling and case management; and prevention services.

Children's Service Society staff members:

  • Help find loving, stable homes for children in need of a family through foster care and adoption.
  • Work with children and families to reduce stress and conflict, enhance parenting skills and strengthen family ties through counseling programs.
  • Provide services to children in out-of-home care, advocating for their safety, well-being and timely reunification with birthparents or adoption, if reunification is not possible.
  • Provide intensive in-home services to keep children safe in their homes and prevent out-of-home care placement.
  • Offer free, confidential and supportive guidance to help birthparents dealing with an unplanned pregnancy sort through all their feelings and make the best decision possible.
  • Provide parents with support and guidance to help them be the best parents they can be.
  • Assist young adults transitioning out of foster care giving them the skills, training, guidance and support enabling them to make it on their own.

Children's Family and Community Partnerships, a not-for-profit subsidiary of Children's Service Society, also is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families.
