 Information regarding nursing student placement for 2009 spring and fall clinical learning experiences.

A letter was sent to each school of nursing by Shelly Malin outlining how the move to the new bed tower will impact nursing student placement.  the highlights are captured below:

  • We will not be taking requests for experiences beginning after March 15th
  • We will have clinical groups as ususal on all the units, if a student is on a unit that is moving they will also move to the new unit.
  • All alternative learning experiences must be complete before the end of March. 
  • We will be taking a limited number of 1:1 precepted experiences.  We willnot be accepting requests for the PICU for the spring semester.

    NICU / PICU Fall Educational Days

    1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12

    All sessions will be held in the Briggs and Stratton auditorium on the 2nd floor of the main hospital. These sessions will give a general overview of the nursing care in the NICU and PICU.  Students must attend one of the sessions prior to requesting an alternative (shadow) experience in the NICU or PICU. There are DVDs available for students to view if they are unable to attend a session due to schedule conflicts.

    R.S.V.P. to Jeanne Braby (jbraby@chw.org) with the number of students attending at least 2 weeks prior to each date. Tours for clinical groups will be scheduled for a different day after students have attended a presentation. Contact MJ McConnell (MMcConnell@chw.org) for the PICU tour.  Contact either Anne Grocholski (agrocholski@chw.org) or Ann Brooks (abrooks@chw.org) for the NICU tour.
