The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has twice named Children's Hospital a member of the prestigious Magnet Recognition Program for excellence in nursing services.Nursing Student Placement

Welcome

Welcome to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Our goal is to provide high quality educational experiences for students in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Embedded in the mission of the Children's Hospital and Health System is a strong commitment to the education of our future work forces, your students.

The Advanced Practice Nursing and Research Department oversees and coordinates work with all schools of nursing. More than 640 nursing students from 29 schools of nursing located in four states completed educational experiences at Childeren's Hospital in 2011. There are various types of student placements including undergraduate and graduate experiences.

WHAT'S NEW

Children's Hospital Site Survey

    https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/chwsitesurvey

We are going green!  Starting this fall semester, we would like all schools of nursing to complete an on line survey evaluating how we are doing.  Please have all nursing students complete this before they finish their clinicals here at Children's.  Thanks!

Infant Safe Sleep education is now available.

Providing education and care to babies and their families requires being up-to-date and comfortable talking with parents and caregivers about the importance of safe sleep practices. Our students need to be educated and help us to promote infant safe sleep whenever possible. Click on link: Infant Safe Sleep Education.

PHOTO IDs

Security is now requiring nursing instructors of group clinicals and precepted students to call or email and make arrangements for IDs. This needs to be done a week in advance. The only set hours will be Wednesdays from 8 a.m - 12 p.m., all other times will have to be arranged.

Security's phone number is (414) 266-3553.

Synergy Model of Care Delivery

  • Synergy is a model of care delivery, in which eight patient needs are matched with eight clinician competencies, working towards a common goal of safe passage through the experience of care.

  • Safe passage requires the nurse to know the patient/family and the patient/family to know their nurse.

  • When patient needs and nurse competencies are in synergy, optimal patient outcomes are more likely to occur.

Find more information regarding synergy on the Faculty Orientation Page.

Student Information Sheet A new form for student's requesting a senior capstone experience (preceptorship) at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has been created. The form was developed after receiving feedback from preceptors stating that they would like more information up front on any student doing a one-on-one experience. Please complete form and send it to Diane Dooley.
