WHAT'S NEW

Please note, each Schools of Nursing received a letter regarding fall 2012 clinlcals. Due to our implemenation of the electronic health record, clinical groups are to have no more than 8 students per clinical group assigned to acute care units, and no more than 6 students per clinical groups assigned to the critical care (ICU) units and Day Surgery. Alternative learning experiences will not be available for these clinical groups. Although we can accept limited precepted requests for the summer, we will not be able to accept either graduate or undergraduate requests for the fall 2012. Any questions, please contact Diane Dooley.
Children's Hospital Site Survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/chwsitesurvey
We are going green! Starting this fall semester, we would like all schools of nursing to complete an on line survey evaluating how we are doing. Please have all nursing students complete this before they finish their clinicals here at Children's. Thanks!

Infant Safe Sleep education is now available.
Providing education and care to babies and their families requires being up-to-date and comfortable talking with parents and caregivers about the importance of safe sleep practices. Our students need to be educated and help us to promote infant safe sleep whenever possible. Click on link: Infant Safe Sleep Education.

Synergy Model of Care Delivery
-
Synergy is a model of care delivery, in which eight patient needs are matched with eight clinician competencies, working towards a common goal of safe passage through the experience of care.
-
Safe passage requires the nurse to know the patient/family and the patient/family to know their nurse.
-
When patient needs and nurse competencies are in synergy, optimal patient outcomes are more likely to occur.
Find more information regarding synergy on the Faculty Orientation Page.
Student Information Sheet A new form for student's requesting a senior capstone experience (preceptorship) at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has been created. The form was developed after receiving feedback from preceptors stating that they would like more information up front on any student doing a one-on-one experience.
