NEW Kids™ Programs
What is overweight?
According to the Center for Disease Control, overweight and obesity are the terms preferred to refer to children who have excess body weight. One in five children in the metropolitan Milwaukee area is considered overweight.
Medical problems associated with overweight:
- Type II Diabetes.
- High blood pressure.
- High cholesterol.
- Severe asthma.
- Joint and bone problems.
- Snoring.
- "Dirty Neck" appearance.
Children's Hospital currently supports teh NEW Kids Clinic Program.
The NEW Kids Clinic Program Overview:
The NEW (Nutrition, Exercise and Weight Management) Kids™ Program at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is geared toward individualized treatment of pediatric overweight. It coordinates efforts of nurse practitioners and dietitians. The NEW Kids Clinic focuses on children who are overweight and have medical problems related to overweight. We accept patients from age 2-18 years old.
