Seating and Equipment Clinic

The Seating and Equipment Clinic staff at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin specialize in family-centered care for patients requiring adaptive seating, adaptive equipment, specialized wheelchairs and/or splinting/bracing services.

Common needs are:

  • Adaptive equipment including standers, walkers, strollers and beds.
  • Wheelchair cushion and seat adjustments.
  • Manual and power wheelchairs.

Staff in the clinic are specialists in indentifying the needs of children to maximize their potential for successful rehabilitation. They work to assess their adaptive equipment needs and enable them to be as independent as possible in their home, school, work and community settings. Family education and involvement are important components. Prescriptions are generated at the clinic and equipment vendors are available. Community therapists are welcome to attend.

We serve all age groups who have a referral from the patient, parent, physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, insurer, social worker, case continuum consultant, discharge planner or case manager.
