Neurofibromatosis Clinic
The Neurofibromatosis Clinic, a multidisciplinary clinic of the Genetics Center, provides diagnosis, education, counseling, treatment and medical management services to children and adults with neurocutaneous disorders (neurofibromatosis type 1, neurofibromatosis type 2, schwannomatosis, tuberous sclerosis complex).
The evaluation and care team includes:
- Medical geneticists.
- Neurologists.
- Dermatologists.
- Child psychologists.
- Genetic counselors.
- Social workers.
- Speech/language pathologists.
- Physical therapists.
- Occupational therapists.
Consultations with other specialists, including ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, oncology and cardiology, are available as needed.
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's Neurofibromatosis Clinic is the only clinic in the state to be named an affiliate clinic by the Children's Tumor Foundation's Clinical Care Advisory Board for providing outstanding neurofibromatosis care.
Clinic staff currently follow more than 300 children with neurofibromatosis. The goal of the clinic is to better control symptoms, prevent complications, preserve quality of life and prolong survival. Neurofibromatosis Clinic staff strive to assist patients and families in understanding the natural history of the condition and help them adapt to this progressive genetic condition that requires lifelong medical management.
Location The Neurofibromatosis Clinic is located on the first floor of Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's Clinics Building, within the Special Needs Clinic. Free parking is available in Children's Hospital's north parking structure.
