Children's Hospital Awards and Achievements

Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has been recognized for its excellence as a patient care provider, employer and community partner. Recent honors include:

2012

  • (1/16/12) - The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) is pleased to announce Praveen S. Goday, MD, MBBS, CNSC, pediatric gastroenterologist, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin; assistant professor, pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition, Division of Pediatrics, the Medical College of Wisconsin as the winner of the 2012 Excellence in Nutrition Support Education Award.

2011

  • (12/9/11) - Robert Rohloff, MD, pediatrician, Children's Medical Group Southwest Pediatrics is a recipient of a 2011 BizTimes Health Care Heroes award. The annual awards honor southeastern Wisconsin people and organizations that are making a difference on the front lines of health care.

  • (10/27/11) - The Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) has awarded a three-year re-accreditation to The Medical College of Wisconsin's Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) program for pediatric and adult autologous and allogeneic transplantation at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital.

  • (10/2/11) - Kitty Montgomery, MS, RN, PCNS-BC, CPHON, pediatric clinical nurse specialist, Hematology/Oncology/Transplant unit, has been awarded the 2011 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing Star award. Recipients demonstrate excellence in leadership and professional involvement at work, professional organizations(s) or health care-related activities.

  • (10/23/11) - Sheryn Abraham, MD, and Andrew Leslie, MD, Children's Medical Group Lakeside Pediatrics, were voted among the top pediatricians in Kenosha County in 2011 as part of a readers' choice poll sponsored by the Kenosha News. As the top pediatrician in Kenosha County, Dr. Abraham was highlighted in a special Kenosha News section.

  • (9/14/11) - The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction awarded Children's Health Education Center the 2011 Friend of Education Award. State Superintendent Tony Evers presented the award to Bridget Clementi, director of Community Health, as part of his third annual State of Education address at the Capitol in Madison, Wis. CHEC was recognized for the significant contributions it has made to students across the state. 

  • (9/12/11) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, along with 72 hospitals with 91 teams from pediatric and cardiac intensive care units around the country, is participating in groundbreaking work in preventing bloodstream infections among hospitalized children and has saved the pediatric health care system more than $100 million. Thomas Rice, MD, medical director, critical care services, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin; professor and chief, Pediatric Critical Care, The Medical College of Wisconsin, co-authored the findings that were published in the October 2011 issue of Pediatrics. The Quality Transformation Network team at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin includes members from the PICU, Central Access Team, Pharmacy and Outcomes Department.

  • (8/22/11) - The MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin was recently selected as a Phase 1 Center by the Children's Oncology Group. The designation is an elite award given to only 21 centers in the world. The MACC Fund Center is the only site in Wisconsin to offer early phase clinical research to children suffering from cancer.

  • (7/1/11) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's burn clinical practice group placed third in the 2011 American Burn Association poster contest. The poster highlights the dangers of fire pits. Members of the committee who created the poster include: Barb Riordan; Stacy Barry-Coffey; Colleen Baughn; Stephanie Clayton; Latoya Stamper; Matt Jandresevits; Jeanne Braby; Margaret Thew; Robyn Treder; Kristin Braun; Emily Dix; Jeanne Briscoe; Larry Susienka; and Shelli Kernan.

  • (6/1/11) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin received American Burn Association poster contest award.

  • (5/20/11) - Children's Hospital and Health System recognized as a Top Workplace by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

  • (5/19/11) - Jane B. Pettit Pain and Palliative Care Center honored by American Pain Society.

  • (5/19/11) - Steven J. Weisman, MD, medical director, Pain Management, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, received the 2011 Jeffrey Lawson Award from the American Pain Society.

  • (5/17/11) - Ten specialties at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin ranked in
    U.S. News and World Report's 2011-12 Best Children's Hospitals
    .

  • (5/12/11) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin receives accreditation for Child Abuse Pediatrics Fellowship.

  • (3/3/11) - The lactation management team at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin received the IBCLC Care Award from the International Board of Certified Lactation Examiners and the International Lactation Consultants Association. The IBCLC Care Award, which is valid for two years, recognizes hospitals, birthing facilities, and birthing services that hire certified International Board Certified Lactation Consultants and have a dedicated lactation support program available at least five days a week.

  • (2/16/11) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin physicians named 2010 - 2011 Best Doctors in America®.

2010

  • (11/10/10) - Peggy Troy, president and CEO, Children's Hospital and Health System named to top 50 women in health care leadership.

  • (9/29/10) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin recognized for dedication to improving patient experience.

  • (9/27/10) - Children's Hospital and Health System named one of America's best adoption-friendly workplaces.

  • (4/16/10) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's New Berlin Clinic awarded LEED Silver certification.

  • (3/26/10) - Children's Hospital Respiratory Care earns national quality recognition.

  • (2/4/10) - Children's Hospital and Health Ssytem ranked No. 106 in Training magazine's Training Top 125 awards.

2009

  • (12/7/09) - Surgicenter of Greater Milwaukee awarded national and local honors for high-quality, efficient care.
