Overview of the Kidney Transplant Program
Since 1986 Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has been offering new hope for children with chronic kidney failure through the Kidney Transplant Program. Our pediatric kidney transplant team has extensive experience in treating the most difficult cases. It is nationally recognized as an expert in immunosuppression protocols and disease recurrence.
We perform transplants from:
- Living donors who are relatives of the child.
- Nonrelatives.
- Nonliving donors.
According to recent data from The United Network for Organ Sharing, more than 800 children are waiting for a kidney transplant in the United States. Children's Hospital cares for the majority of Wisconsin kids with transplant-related kidney disease.
