Specializing in the treatment of epilepsy
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin neurologists and staff are well known for their work in the treatment of epilepsy in children. The Pediatric Epilepsy Center offers advanced diagnostic procedures and the full range of treatments for epilepsy including the newest antiepileptic medications, ketogenic diet, vagal nerve stimulators and epilepsy surgery.
The program is led by medical director Mary Zupanc, MD, (pictured at left). Zupanc also is professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Zupanc is a nationally recognized pediatric epileptologist well known for her work to advance the treatment of epilepsy in children. Zupanc led the development new techniques for analyzing neuroimages to pinpoint the source of seizures in the brain, making epilepsy surgery a more viable option for many children with intractable epilepsy or hard-to-control seizures.
