Modes of Transport

Children's Transport provides these modes of transport:

- Ambulance: Children's Hospital partners with BELL Ambulance to provide safe, reliable ground transportation. Each ambulance is a child-friendly mobile intensive care unit.

- Helicopter. When a patient needs to get to the hospital fast, we partner with Flight for Life to arrange a helicopter transport. The helicopter quickly changes to make room for an infant or teenager.

- Fixed-wing airplane. The transport team uses an airplane when the referring health care facility is more than 200 miles away from Children's Hospital. The aircraft has medical equipment to provide safe transfer of the most critical patients. Patients are easily and safely transferred from the aircraft to the ambulance for ground transport from the airport to Children's Hospital.
