Overview
Our pediatric craniofacial and plastic surgeons provide comprehensive care to infants and children with common to complex craniofacial disorders and plastic surgery needs. In addition, the plastic surgery team routinely provides prenatal counseling for pregnant mothers and assessment of newborns. Our plastic surgeons make themselves available to meet with families before their child is born if a prenatal ultrasound shows a cleft or other craniofacial disorder.

Our pediatric plastic surgeons work independently and/or utilize a multidisciplinary approach with state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and cutting-edge treatments including tissue expansion, facial reanimation surgery and distraction osteogenesis of the mandible and craniofacial skeleton. They are actively involved in ongoing research to develop better treatment for children with cleft, craniofacial and other plastic surgery disorders.

Family-centered care is the focus of Plastic Surgery because our specialists know a child's health affects the whole family. We create a partnership with families, talking openly and often about their child's care and their personal beliefs. Our goal is to support families by building on their strengths.

Specialty Highlights

  • Conduct more than 4,000 clinic visits and perform more than 1,000 surgeries per year.
  • Work with perinatologists and neonatal intensive care specialists on high-risk cases with respect to prenatal assessment and postnatal evaluation.

  • Arlen Denny, MD, is listed in the 2007-2008 Best Doctors in America® database. Nationally fewer than 3 to 5 percent of all physicians are listed.
