Overview
Pediatric Endocrinology provides comprehensive care to children with common or rare endocrine conditions. These include delayed puberty, failure to thrive, poor linear growth, polycystic ovary syndrome, delayed or precocious puberty, calcium and vitamin D abnormalities, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and other endocrine conditions.

Patients are case managed by nurse clinicians for the first six months following diagnosis in order to help families and patients with diabetes self-care and to help them reach their educational objectives, as well as cope with diabetes-related psychosocial issues.

The Diabetes Clinic at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin is one of the largest in the country serving more than 1,500 children with Type 1 (juvenile) and Type 2 diabetes and their families.

The Diabetes Clinic at Children's Hospital offers a comprehensive outpatient education center, teaching basic skills for the first week following diagnosis and offering advanced education during the ensuing four months.

- We are active in a variety of research endeavors, including growth disorders and diabetes.
- Max McGee International Diabetes Research Center, focuses on the origins of diabetes using molecular techniques, including gene arrays and proteonomics.
- The section performs several clinical research programs in clinical diabetes and in growth disorders.
Endocrinology Team
Pediatric Endocrinology is comprised of board-certified pediatric endocrinologists who offer services that focus on delayed puberty, failure to thrive, growth hormone deficiency, other endocrine gland conditions, polycystic ovary syndrome, precocious (early onset) puberty, rickets, short stature, thyroiditis and Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
