Overview
The Asthma/Allergy/Immunology Center at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin welcomes children and adults with a wide range of health care concerns. Care is provided by board-certified allergy/immunology specialists, many of whom are internationally recognized in their area(s) of expertise. Programs focus on asthma, anaphylaxis, food allergies, immunodeficiency, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, urticaria, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, latex allergy, allergic reactions and diseases.
We diagnose and treat the following:

Asthma (new comprehensive program).

Bee sting allergy.

The Asthma/Allergy/Immunology Center at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin continues to be one of the hospital's busiest medical specialty clinics, meeting the needs of more than 17,000 patients annually.

The center has been designated as a "Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic Center for Primary Immunodeficiencies." Our center is the 12th center to be so designated in the U.S. and the 23rd such center in the world.

 Six of the Asthma/Allergy/Clinical Immunology specialists are listed in the 2007-2008 Best Doctors in America® database. The 40,000 U.S. physicians who make the list represent the top 3 to 5 percent of the nation's practicing board-certified physicians. -
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in collaboration with State Laboratory of Hygiene at the University of Wisconsin-Madison launched a pilot program that will develop the protocols to screen all newborns for Severe Combined Immune Deficiency disease (SCID), sometimes known as "Bubble Boy Disease."

Jordan Fink, MD, is a world expert on mycology and immunologic diseases associated with fungi and past president of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.
Research

John Routes, MD, conducts research including the pathogenesis of lymphoproliferative disorders and lung disease in primary immunodeficiencies, in particular common variable immunodeficiency, DNA tumor viruses in human disease and the role of bacterial and viral infections in asthma.

Michael Zacharisen, MD, has received a grant from the Wisconsin Lung Association to study the mechanism of metal working fluid causing hypersensitivity pneumonia.

Jordan Fink, MD, continues his investigation of mold-related illnesses.
Asthma/Allergy/Clinical Immunology team
Care is provided by board-certified allergy/immunology specialists, many of whom are internationally recognized in their area(s) of expertise. Programs within the division focus on childhood asthma, latex allergy, anaphylaxis, food allergies, immune deficiency, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis and allergic reactions and diseases.
