Family and Sleep Rooms

Family room

The Family Room was designed for families of Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit patients as a calm place to rest or sleep during their children's critical care hospitalizations. It is located on the floor above the NICU and PICU. A hotel-like atmosphere provides brief respite from the stress of being away from home.

The family room consists of a seating area complete with phone, computer and printer, table and chairs, and television with VCR. A kitchenette has a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, toaster and counter area to prepare food. Disposable paper products are available.

A washer and dryer, complete with soap dispenser and folding table, are located in the laundry area.

Sleep rooms

Sleep rooms are available to families from outside the Milwaukee area and are assigned each night based on most urgent need. Rooms include a single bed, phone, data jack and recliner.

These sleep rooms are provided free of charge for the comfort of parents of NICU and PICU patients.

Two unisex bathrooms with showers and some personal hygiene products are provided in the sleep room area.

If you are interested in using a sleep room, please let your child's nurse know.

Families also may stay at the Ronald McDonald House, located across the street from Children's Hospital. Please contact Family Services for details at (414) 266-2800.
