CONTRIBUTE TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL HISTORY BY SIGNING THE BEAM

MILWAUKEE (11/21/2007) - Employees, volunteers and patient families are invited to sign the topmost steel beam for the new west tower before it is put in place Wednesday, Nov. 28. The beam will be placed in the Clinics Building lobby for signing during the day Monday, Nov. 26 and Tuesday, Nov. 27.

As one of the nation's leading hospitals for kids, Children's Hospital is growing faster than expected and needs additional beds and clinic space to make room for more patients. The new west tower will help Children's Hospital better serve the needs of kids from Wisconsin and beyond. This 12-story, 425,000 square foot expansion will increase the 236-bed hospital to 294 beds and will have room for 72 more beds in the future. The expansion will feature a bigger pediatric intensive care unit and a larger Herma Heart Center. The west tower is expected to open in spring 2009.
