BRIGS & AL'S RUN AND WALK FOR CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL RAISES MORE THAN $1 MILLION

MILWAUKEE (9/15/2007) - Children's Hospital of Wisconsin announced more than $1 million was raised today through Briggs & Al's Run & Walk for Children's Hospital. "Briggs & Stratton is proud to have served as title sponsor for more than a decade," said John S. Shiely, chairman, president and CEO of Briggs & Stratton Corp. "Hundreds of our employees participate every year, affirming our commitment to helping Children's Hospital make a difference in the lives of children in our community. We truly are honored to help hallmark the 30th anniversary of Briggs & Al's Run & Walk."

For the fifth year, Marquette University men's basketball coach Tom Crean and his wife, Joani, served as grand marshals for the event. Tom Crean said, "Joani and I are thrilled to carry on the legacy of Al McGuire," who founded the run and walk in 1978. "Children's Hospital has made a difference in the lives of thousands of kids and their families through the years, and it's an honor to be part of that effort."

Hospital representatives credit individual participants, teams and pledgeraisers, together with the generous support of corporate sponsors such as Briggs & Stratton, Boston Store, Marquette University and Tricom Funding for the success of this year's event.

"The efforts of the pledgeraisers this year was phenomenal," said Linda Schieble, director of special events for Children's Hospital and Health System Foundation. "Pledges make the most difference for our patients. One hundred percent of those dollars support patient care, research, child advocacy programs and community education."

Since 1978, Briggs & Al's Run & Walk for Children's Hospital has raised more than $8.5 million. Proceeds support a variety of programs, particularly the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units and the Hematology, Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplant Program.
