  CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF WISCONSIN APPOINTS PROGRAM DIRECTOR OF INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE
 

MILWAUKEE (1/5/2007) - Subra Kugathasan, MD, has been named director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Kugathasan is an associate professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a member of Children's Specialty Group. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Kugathasan received his medical degree at the University of Columbo in Sri Lanka. He was senior house officer, registrar and senior registrar in Pediatrics at University Hospitals of Wales in Cardiff, United Kingdom. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland. He completed a research fellowship in Mucosal Immunology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. His professional interests include the genetic epidemiology of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease and biological therapies for pediatric inflammatory bowel disease.

Kugathasan is a resident of Brookfield, Wis.
