Your family has the option of staying at the hospital or at a number of facilities near the hospital during your child's visit.
Staying in the hospital A sleeper couch is available in most patient rooms for a parent or grandparent to stay overnight. Please inform your child's nurse if you wish to stay overnight. You will be asked to wear appropriate sleep attire, such as pajamas or a sweatsuit that covers your whole body. The hospital will provide linens and a pillow. You will need to bring your own toiletries. Siblings and other minor children are not allowed to stay overnight.
A limited number of sleeping rooms are available for parents of children in the Intensive Care Units. Rooms can be reserved on a daily basis by asking your child's nurse. Bathrooms and showers for parents also are available by asking your child's nurse.
Area Hotels Children's Hospital receives significantly discounted rates at several local hotels. Please have a personal credit card ready at the time of your request, in order to hold the room. Download a list here.
Non-Profit Hospitality Housing Ronald McDonald House is located right across the street from Children's Hospital. Overnight accommodations are available for families of children receiving inpatient or outpatient treatment. A donation of $10 per night is suggested. Please contact the Family Accommodations Program five days prior to your arrival to be placed on the waiting list. Rooms are assigned as space allows. The Ronald McDonald House is not able to "reserve" a room for you. After-hours or on weekends when the Family Accommodations Program is not staffed, ask your child's nurse to contact a social worker to make arrangements for you. Amenities at the Ronald McDonald House include refrigerators, microwaves, shuttles and rollway beds.If you have stayed at Ronald McDonald House within the last 2 years, you may call directly at (414) 475-5333 to be placed on its waiting list.
Kathy's House is located three minutes from Children's Hospital. Overnight accommodations are available for families of children receiving inpatient or outpatient treatment. Accommodations are available for any patient receiving outpatient treatment or any caregiver supporting a patient in any hospital in the greater Milwaukee area. All guests need a referral by a health care professional who is familiar with the patient. Amenities at Kathy's House include refrigerators, microwaves, shuttles and rollway beds.
