Appointments are available with a physician's referral. Call Central Scheduling toll-free (877) 607-5280 or (414) 607-5280.

New patient visits last an hour to an hour and a half. Goals are to identify the type of headache, prescribe appropriate medications and suggest lifestyle changes, if necessary, to help families manage the child's headaches. A pediatric psychologist is a consultant for the clinic to teach relaxation and biofeedback exercises.

We diagnose and treat the following:

  • Migraines.
  • Tension-type headaches.
  • Other primary and secondary headache disorders.

Location
Neuroscience Center, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin Clinics Building, Suite 209. Children's Hospital is located just outside Milwaukee.

What happens at a visit?

The providers start with a comprehensive history, including headache history, family history, birth and developmental histories, and other medical history. A physical examination, including neurological exam, is performed. Time is spent at the end of each visit to summarize findings, discuss medication options, and detail recommended lifestyle changes. If the child's history or exam findings are abnormal, the nurse practitioners will consult with pediatric neurologists in the clinic before recommending treatment.
