Children have many problems with their ears, nose and throat. In fact, 75 percent of children will experience an ear infection by age 3. Often, these problems can be cared for by your child's physician.

Ear, nose and throat problems can often be treated by your childDepending on your child's situation, your child's physician may refer him/her to an otolaryngologist for specialty care. Otolaryngology is the medical specialty that focuses on disorders of the ear, nose and throat. They are also known as ENT physicians.

ENT physicians may help treat your child with certain problems such as ear infections, hearing loss, breathing problems, or sinus problems. ENT physicians may also be involved if your child needs ear tubes or tonsil surgery.
