Charlotte Promersberger Johnston School Room

Our school program has three hospital-based teachers and one teacher's aide from the Wauwatosa (Wis.) Public School District. Patients can attend school and get instruction 5 days a week. Those who cannot leave their rooms to go to the classroom receive bedside teaching. Hospital teachers work with the children's classroom teachers to ensure lessons are current.

Participation in the hospital school program helps children keep up-to-date with schoolwork and provides a sense of normalcy during illness and hospitalization. It also provides a positive transition back to school.

The school program is administered by the Wauwatosa School District and has three full-time teachers and a teacher's aid who provide services for school-age patients.

• The school room is located on the 9th floor of the west tower.
• School program hours are 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday following the Wauwatosa School District Calendar.
