Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin first in nation to receive Connected Care recognition

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin announced today that its pediatric urgent care centers are the first in the nation to receive NCQA Patient-Centered Connected Care Recognition. The Washington, D.C.-based National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) gave the recognition to Children’s for demonstrating that it connects the care it delivers back to its patients’ primary care team in a structured and timely manner.

World-renowned heart surgeon to join Children’s and MCW

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin have recruited Viktor Hraska, M.D., Ph.D., a world-renowned surgeon and researcher to further the organizations’ pediatric cardiac expertise.

Dr. Hraska will join cardiothoracic surgeons Michael Mitchell, M.D., and Ronald Woods, M.D., Ph.D., in leading Children’s Herma Heart Center, the fifth ranked pediatric heart program in the nation. Yearly, Children’s performs more than 300 open heart surgeries and 700 total heart procedures and has some of the best outcomes for pediatric heart surgeries in the country.

Children's to teach ER techniques to doctors from seven states, 52 health systems

On Friday, March 11, trauma doctors from across the state and region will learn best practices on how to treat kids in the emergency room from the experts at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. It will be the first time the hospital has offered such a training.
