Improving children's health through better oral health

Oral health affects physical health and mental well-being. It can influence how children chew, taste food, grow, speak, look and socialize. While tooth decay and other dental health issues are preventable, many Milwaukee children do not have access the oral health care they need.

We operate pediatric dental services at four locations, serving thousands of patients each year. Our dental centers are staffed by pediatric dentists, hygienists and dental assistants who understand children and are specially trained in children’s oral health care needs.

Our Milwaukee area Dental Centers are located at:

Coordinating for Better Oral Health

We lead this workgroup that brings together Children’s Hospital and community resources – from clinical to community – all focused on the goal of improving children's overall oral health.

Services for children in foster care

We provide case management services for children in the child welfare system in Milwaukee County. Through this work we support families in accessing dental care for these children.

Children's Community Health Plan

Our HMO for BadgerCare Plus eligible families living in Wisconsin works to ensure children enrolled in our plan have access to dental services provided by a dentist or a primary care physician.

Children's Health Alliance of Wisconsin

The alliance raises awareness, mobilizes leaders and people, impacts public health and implements programs proven to work. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin serves as the organization's fiscal agent and home. Oral health is one of the alliance's key initiatives.
